Step into history at the Moros y Cristianos Festival 2026 in Jávea (Xàbia), celebrating its 48th edition. The festivities will take place mainly throughout July 2026, with the spectacular highlight expected during the weekend of 17–18 July, featuring the famous landing, battle, and reconquest reenactments.

This year marks a historic milestone: for the first time ever, a man will serve as standard bearer, making the 2026 edition especially memorable.

The festival recreates the historic battles between Moors and Christians that shaped the region, combining tradition, theatre, and celebration. Visitors can expect:

• Gala Parade – The Moorish and Christian filaes march through Duanes de la Mar in spectacular costumes.
• Moorish Landing (Desembarco Moro) – A dramatic historical reenactment on La Grava beach.
• Embassies and Battles – Theatrical recreations of the struggle for the castle.
• Christian Reconquest – The symbolic final victory and closing ceremonies on the beach.

Although the detailed hour-by-hour programme for July 2026 has not yet been officially published, the festival traditionally fills the town with music, parades, historical performances, and a vibrant summer atmosphere.

Earlier in the year, the celebrations already began with Mig Any (mid-year event) on 7 February 2026, including the gathering of filaes, a traditional lunch, and an entraeta parade through Duanes de la Mar.
