Semana Santa in Calpe is one of the town’s most important religious and cultural celebrations.
It takes place during the week leading up to Easter Sunday and is organised by local brotherhoods such as Jesús Nazareno, Cristo de las Tres Caídas and Hermandad del Silencio.
Throughout the week, solemn processions carry religious statues through the streets of Calpe’s old town (casco antiguo), especially around the Ermita del Salvador and the parish church. Participants wear traditional robes and hoods, accompanied by drums and sacred music. The most significant moment is the Good Friday procession of the Holy Burial (Santo Entierro). The celebration concludes on Easter Sunday with the symbolic encounter of the Risen Christ and the Virgin Mary in the main square.
