Rice & Roots: Visit the Museu Etnològic de l’Arròs in Pego

Explore Pego’s rice-growing heritage at the Museu Etnològic de l’Arròs — traditional tools, harvest stories and rural charm in a historic setting.

Set in the heart of Pego, the Museu Etnològic de l’Arròs invites you on a fascinating walk through the local traditions of rice cultivation and rural life. Housed on C/ Sant Domènec 5, the museum showcases vintage tools, harvest photographs and milling gear that shaped the region’s economy and identity. From planting through to the threshing floor, every corner tells a story of water-filled fields, community labour and the golden rice harvest.

Opening hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday: 09:00 – 13:30 and 17:00 – 20:00.
  • Closed on Monday, Saturday & Sunday (or by appointment – check locally to confirm).

Parking tip:
The museum is in Pego’s old town, and on-street spaces can fill up quickly, especially in the morning. For easier parking:

  • Use the Parking Garage in the center (just a short walk away) and enjoy a scenic stroll into the centre.
  • If you prefer to park closer, aim for the regulated “Zona Azul” (blue-zone) near the museum—arrive early and have your mobile/coin ready to pay.
This way you avoid the narrow one-way streets and enjoy your visit without parking stress.
